This position is for a Java Engineer role focused on supporting a rapidly growing digital services platform for our Fortune 500 client in Phoenix, AZ. Our client is expanding on online payment services in many different markets and forming new partnerships by building new money movement capabilities in new markets as well as improving existing offerings in current markets. We are looking for a experienced Java J2EE engineer with good industry exposure and passion to excel.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with product manager, project manager, business analysts, architects and engineers to design and build efficient, scalable and reusable enterprise software
  • Estimate engineering efforts, attend daily scrums, ensure functional and non-functional deliverables are on schedule, code, perform code review, plan implementations and help roll out system changes to production
  • Ensure 100% compliance to technical, architectural, regulatory and strategic standards, policies, and procedures
  • Strong quality and security focus including automation, design reviews and unit testing
  • Communicate and coordinate with cross-functional business and technology teams
  • Mentor developers in coding best practices and system performance fine tuning
  • Support rollouts, analyze technical issues and be available for on-call duties to lead resolution

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Responsibilities include:
    • Serving as a core member of an engineering team that designs and develops software applications
    • Writing code and unit tests, working on API specs, automation, and conducting code reviews and testing
    • Identifying exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges
    • Performing ongoing refactoring of code, utilizing visualization and other techniques to fast-track concepts, and delivering continuous improvement
    • Working with product managers to prioritize features for ongoing sprints and managing a list of technical requirements based on industry trends, new technologies, known defects, and issues


  • 6+ years software development experience
  • Prefer a BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile development, application design, software development, and testing
  • Thorough understanding of XML, JSON, Web Service technologies, and data structure fundamentals
  • Experience with HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, DOM, and Software Version Control Systems (such as svn, git) required
  • Experience with JavaScript Libraries (such as jQuery, GWT, Dojo, AngularJS), Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, Google+) API’s, Search Engine Optimization, Web Page Optimization strategies desired
  • Experienced in Node.JS is MUST
  • Publishing industry experienced a plus
  • Experience with Java applications design and development in an Enterprise setting using J2EE, Spring, SQL DBMS’s desired
  • Experience with adaptive and responsive techniques
  • Expertise in Objected Oriented Analysis and Design across a variety of platforms
  • Proven hunger to learn new technologies and translate them into working software
  • Ability to effectively communicate to internal and external business partners on solution design
