Our client specializes in online professional training and believe in using data to drive them forward. As such, they have created a new department focused solely on making data a key part of the culture and part of their competitive edge.
This position will primarily entail the following responsibilities, however as the company and the Data Organization grow so will the needs of this position.
The DataOps/Hadoop admin Guru is needed to manage the Data Hub infrastructure. If configuring and tuning Hadoop is better than coffee to get you going in the morning, then you came to the right place!
What You Will Do:
We’re all about Hadoop. If you have experience with CDH 5, even better!
Monitor, install, upgrade and tune. Rinse; repeat.
Some of the technologies in our roadmap include HDFS, Hive, Impala, MapReduce, Spark, Kafka, and Cassandra. We will rely on your architectural and tuning mastery across all of these pieces.
Implement a security model for our Hadoop cluster
Manage mixed, high concurrency workloads from a heterogenous user base. This is hard stuff, so prepare to be challenged!
Get into the guts of Hadoop tuning as you work closely with data engineers to fine tune jobs, Hive queries and HDFS usage.
Automate, automate, automate. Did we mention automate?
What We Would Love to See:
At least 3 years of real-world experience in a large Cloudera Hadoop environment.
Cloudera CCAH certification is a big plus!
Ninja-like Unix skills.
At least 5 years in a DevOps role in large scale enterprise deployments.
Expertise in CI/CD based deployments.
Experience with Chef, Puppet, Ansible or Salt.
Experience with running Hadoop workloads within Amazon web Services.
Experience with continuous integration tools such as Team City or Jenkins.
Some experience with Docker, Vagrant or other virtualization technologies.
Willingness and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
A passion for solving hard data problems using a mix of DevOps, engineering and creativity.
