Hiring a Linux System Admin. in Draper, UT
Our client is blazing a path at the intersection of Leasing and Technology and has an exciting new opening for a (contract) Linux Systems Administrator in our Utah office.
The (contract) Linux Systems Administrator is accountable for all systems monitoring and is tasked with providing the business with insightful and timely information on the performance of our environments. The Linux Systems Administrator will evaluate, select or develop the best of breed systems and software to deploy within our environment. This position is technical in nature and requires a strong background implementing solutions in a large virtualized based infrastructure. The engineer must be capable of understanding complex networks and how to best create a platform to monitor it. The engineers must have a clear understanding of networking, systems and security to perform these tasks.
What You’ll Do:
Continue to enhance current monitoring systems by adding monitoring where there are identified gaps and adjust current alerting as systems & software as needed.
Participate in systems architecture discussions to make sure our current monitoring systems can expand to meet our future goals.
Contribute to product evaluations as we select new software to deploy in our environments
Review requirements from business units to ensure the team is providing information the business needs to respond effectively to a rapidly growing and evolving system.
Develop metrics and reporting on environment health and deploy a dashboard to give the company a quick view into the health
Work with engineering teams to diagnose issues and respond to production issues by providing them with clear and concise diagnostic information.
Participate in root cause analysis teams to ensure monitoring is properly alerting to outage conditions.
Experience working with open source software, this includes compiling software, deploying software at scale and building new virtual servers.
Work with other teams in discovering their monitoring, graphing, and system accounting needs.
Project research planning and execution. Ability to take an idea and develop it into a project plan with very little guidance and make a solid presentation.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
4+ years of experience in Unix/Linux systems administration and enterprise level monitoring in a Linux/Unix/Windows environment.
2+ years of experience with shell based scripting (bash preferred)
Experience with one of the following enterprise monitoring systems: Opsview, Netcool, Nagios, Zabbix, Sensu, Icinga
Experience with at least one of the following Log Monitoring solutions: AlertLogic, Splunk, Logstash & Elastisearch, Greylog or SumoLogic
Experience monitoring large virtual environments.
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and security
2+ years of experience with at least one of the following: Python, Perl, Ruby
Metric Graphing platforms: Graphite & Grafana, Cubism, Cacti
Automation Tools: Salt Stack, Puppet and MCollective & Chef
Network Monitoring: Solarwinds, SevOne, Netcool
Experience with one of the following application monitoring systems: AppDynamics, New Relic, Gomez, Keynote
Knowledge or experience with VOIP and/or Telephony telecommunications
Strong oral and written communications ability
Ability to prioritize and organize proficiently in fast paced environment
Excellent problem solving abilities
2+ years of experience with at least one of the following: Python, Perl or Ruby.
