Hiring a Mid-level Systems Administrator in Salt Lake City, UT

Our client is looking for a Mid-level Systems Administrator. Primary responsibilities are to identify, research, and resolve technical problems escalated through the Help Desk ticketing system. In addition, this individual will monitor and ensure maximum possible service availability and performance of production systems.

This position calls for a fast learner that can contribute quickly to the team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Individual must be able to multi-task effectively and be able to follow standard operating procedures and best practices for various technology areas. Job duties include:

  • Provide tier II support to our students and staff for escalated issues via our Help Desk ticketing system.
  • Monitor network/systems, document network events, and take corrective action in response to incidents.
  • Provide timely escalations and notifications as required by Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact for Help Desk technicians needing assistance.

Qualifications include strong analytical skills; effective communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills; good understanding of networking architecture, concepts, and technology; knowledge of TCP/IP and other internet transfer protocols; an understanding of Windows and Unix operating systems; and a solid understanding of web and application servers such as Apache, IIS, Glassflish, Tomcat, and JBoss.

Candidates must have experience with telecommunications equipment including PBX, call center environments, call recording, and messaging systems; must be detail oriented and exercise sound judgment; and must be self-motivated and pay attention to detail. The position requires an associate’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline (equivalent experience will be considered) and a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in a production, business environment.
